About the Opportunity

Aecon, a leading market player with a competitive advantage in key markets, is seeking a Cost Controls Coordinator to join our Toronto head office team. As a key member of our project controls team, you will provide critical support to project managers in developing and maintaining project cost and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project cost and control systems, ensuring continuity between project estimates and project baseline.
  • Support proposal and estimating efforts to ensure accurate project baseline establishment.
  • Assist in developing detailed, resource-loaded schedules and converting project bids to project baselines.
  • Set up project accounting systems, including cost codes, job cost processing procedures, and project rules of credit.
  • Ensure contract conditions are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, tracking, and closeout.
  • Monitor project performance and implement project control systems.
  • Generate project status reports, including project dashboards and performance reports.
  • Review and analyze project schedules and cost reports, suggesting corrective actions to maintain project within budget and schedule.
  • Implement change management procedures, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon standards.
  • Support budget and forecast management during project execution.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of related project controls construction experience.
  • College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to travel to projects.
  • Valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle.
