About the Role

VIA Rail Canada is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at the Vancouver Maintenance Centre. As a key member of our Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Equipment Maintenance teams, ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our trains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct a team of unionized employees in maintaining and inspecting our trains
  • Coordinate employee tasks and oversee progress during daily maintenance activities
  • Supervise the onboarding process and ensure employees understand work environment, practices, tools, and health and safety regulations
  • Participate in the investigation process in accordance with the collective agreement
  • Maintain a healthy work environment, foster a positive culture, and promote employee engagement

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) or equivalent combination of technical studies and work experience (mechanical, electrical)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing multidisciplinary teams in a unionized environment
  • Familiar with Transport Canada Railway regulations
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written (French is an asset)
  • Open to travel as needed to support operations at Mission
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
