Job Title: PlayON Team Leader

At the YMCA of Greater Toronto, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a PlayON Team Leader. This is a contract hourly position until June 20, 2025, with an anticipated start date of September 3, 2024.

Job Summary:

The PlayON Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of instructors in planning and implementing high-quality recreation-based programs for children and youth. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to PlayON instructors in planning and delivering programs
  • Develop and maintain awareness of community needs and work collaboratively with the Manager and PlayON and Youth Program Coordinator to meet those needs
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive playspace for all participants, adhering to health and safety protocols
  • Organize and complete monthly wrap-up and other documentation punctually
  • Support families in registering for programs and ensure all children are registered
  • Actively participate in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events
  • Familiarize with exceptionalities and behavior management techniques
  • Monitor the safety of all participants in all activities and programs
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and play area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in a related field, such as Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Kinesiology
  • Previous experience supervising staff is preferred
  • Previous experience working with children and youth in a group setting, with a minimum of one year of experience
  • Holds Current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification
  • Possesses self-motivation and the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Shows flexibility regarding assigned work schedules
