About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our team in the Northern Zone, Colchester East Hants Health Centre. As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for our patients.

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, you will be responsible for participating in and overseeing drug distribution systems, supervising pharmacy support staff, and identifying and resolving drug-related problems. You will also provide clinical pharmacy services, including drug regimen review, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, individual and group patient medication teaching, drug information, and educational programs.

As a member of our team, you will work closely with the medical team to provide discharge medication calendars and counseling to patients, and make therapeutic recommendations. You may also be required to participate in the orientation and training of Pharmacy Students and other hospital personnel.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice, preferably with a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting. You should have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry-level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP-accredited university, and be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia.

You should also possess strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics, effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment position, working 75 hours bi-weekly, approximately 12 months. You will be compensated at a rate of $53.24 per hour, and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
