Pacific Blue Cross, a leading health benefits provider in British Columbia for over 80 years, is seeking an experienced Disability Insurance Claims Recovery Specialist to join its Finance team.
The successful candidate will have 3 years of related experience in collections administration, including demonstrated expertise in disability insurance claims collections. Job Summary
As a Disability Insurance Claims Recovery Specialist, you will analyze and investigate disability claims overpayments, reconcile recoveries, and negotiate settlements with clients and lawyers. You will also provide technical advice on collection practices and procedures to team members and stakeholders. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to navigate complex legal precedents will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and investigate disability claims overpayments, reconciling recoveries and negotiating settlements with clients and lawyers.
- Provide technical advice on collection practices and procedures to team members and stakeholders.
- Represent Pacific Blue Cross at Small Claims Court settlement conferences and hearings as required.
- Maintain accurate records and generate monthly reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the maintenance of the collections management system, troubleshooting issues and updating reports.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- 3 years of previous related experience in collections administration, including demonstrated expertise in disability insurance claims collections.
- Completion of relevant courses, such as Financial Accounting, Business Law, and Business Communications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Intermediate Word and Excel, typing 40 wpm, keystroking 10,000 ksph, and math.
About the Position
This temporary up to 12 months position is unionized and part of the CUPE 1816 Bargaining Unit. The starting wage for this position is estimated at $33.09 per hour. If you are a motivated individual with excellent communication and analytical skills, we encourage you to apply.
