About the Role

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a visionary leader to oversee strategic policy programs and services related to long-range professional community planning. Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, consultation, and strategic advice to Senior Staff, Departments, and City Council on community planning policy.

This role involves developing, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing programs, planning policies, and regulations. The Community Planning Manager will also attend meetings of Council, Committees of Council, and associated bodies, act as an advisor on matters affecting the Official Community Plan, and develop and implement effective strategies to address emerging community needs and future community planning initiatives.

The ideal candidate will hold a post-graduate degree in planning or a related field with six years of related experience in a municipal government setting and three years of supervisory experience. A valid driver's license is required, and applicants under consideration will need to complete a police information check.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-range planning initiatives
  • Provide strategic advice to Senior Staff, Departments, and City Council
  • Attend meetings of Council, Committees of Council, and associated bodies
  • Act as an advisor on matters affecting the Official Community Plan
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to address emerging community needs

What We Offer

The City of Port Coquitlam offers a competitive total compensation package, including an annual salary range of $140,545 to $165,347.
