Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Produce Department Manager to join our team at No Frills. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for leading the produce department and ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and develop staff to provide excellent customer service and ensure that they understand our store's policies and procedures.
  • Schedule department staff to meet business needs and ensure that the department is running efficiently.
  • Handle customer complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety and Food Safety policies are followed by staff and that the department is maintained to a high standard.
  • Train and motivate staff to achieve sales goals and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Delegate and prioritize workload for staff to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Effectively merchandise and promote products to enhance sales and profits.
  • Recommend sales goals and monitor market trends to ensure that our store remains competitive.
  • Ensure that products are received, stored, and handled efficiently to minimize waste and maximize sales.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure that the department is running smoothly.
  • Ensure that all signage and displays are up-to-date and attractive to customers.
  • Ensure that pricing is accurate and consistent across the department.
  • Take ownership of the store in the absence of the Franchisee, including key carrying and alarm responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of management experience, preferably in a retail or food service environment.
  • 1-3 years of experience leading a produce department or similar role.
  • Experience working in meat, deli, and bakery departments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for a discount food store like No Frills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the produce department's impact on store performance, including merchandising, inventory management, pricing, and cleanliness.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage people and work with minimal functional direction.
  • Solid knowledge of all aspects of the produce area, operations, and products.
  • Open availability and flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays according to the needs of the business.
