Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Produce Department Manager to join our team at Farm Boy Inc. As a key member of our produce team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the backroom in the Produce Department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of delivering the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Produce Management: Oversee the preparation, packaging, pricing, rotation, and quality standards of produce to ensure a high level of quality and presentation.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the management team, including recording of shrink, supply inventory, and orders.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by performing general housekeeping duties, including equipment maintenance and sanitizing, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Leadership and Training: Lead by example by promoting corporate policies, customer service standards, departmental cleanliness, and opening and closing procedures. Assist, relieve, and train department personnel as requested by the management team.
  • Compliance and Quality: Comply with all corporate policies, especially those related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and equipment use.
  • Additional Duties: May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral. Good judgment and decision-making abilities while communicating with customers and Farm Boy team members. Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools. Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance.
  • Work Environment: Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines. Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift. Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
