BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Forensic Community Specialist to join our team in Victoria, BC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to provide high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges. As a Forensic Community Specialist, you will work collaboratively with our team to provide community-based services, including assessment, treatment, and support to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each client.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health and substance use issues, as well as strategies for coping and recovery.
  • Collaborate with community resources and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination and access to necessary services.
  • Document client progress and outcomes in a thorough and accurate manner, using standardized tools and templates.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Two (2) years recent, related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Valid BC Drivers License.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
