Role Overview

KPMG Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Consultant to join our team. As an Indigenous Audit Specialist, you will work closely with our First Nations clients and Indigenous-led organizations to provide accounting assistance, year-end reporting, and general advisory services.

Key Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with Indigenous communities, organizations, and individuals. Key responsibilities include:
  1. Building and maintaining effective relationships with Indigenous Peoples
  2. Applying KPMG's audit and accounting practices and methodologies at client engagements
  3. Conducting external and internal financial statement audits for both public and private companies
  4. Guiding field engagement teams and coaching junior staff members
  5. Performing analysis of complex accounting issues and financial systems analysis

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  1. A proven track record in previous experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, and individuals
  2. Experience around fund accounting and disclosure reporting to Indigenous Services Canada is an asset
  3. An accounting or business diploma
  4. A successful completion of the CFE or working towards a CPA designation
  5. 2-3 years post-graduate experience
  6. Experience with all reporting standards
  7. Excellent project management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  9. Ability to work with little supervision and within a team environment
