About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The OT collaborates with the client, caregivers, and family to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in self-care, productivity, and leisure. The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community.

About You

We're looking for a skilled Occupational Therapist with a Masters or Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy. Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff are required. A commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to patients/clients
  • Collaborate with the client, caregivers, and family to develop individualized treatment plans and goals
  • Manage a busy caseload and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
  • Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines
