Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting position in the Slave Lake Family Care Clinic. You will provide service delivery in our beautiful, diverse, and multicultural town. As a Mental Health and Wellness Therapist, you will be responsible for providing information and mental health services to clients across the age continuum presenting with a variety of mental illnesses. This role reports to the manager of the program and functions with a dynamic multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, Social Workers, dietitians, and administrative staff to provide primary care services to the community of Slave Lake.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
- Work both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- The candidate must have three years' experience with people experiencing mental illness and mental disorders.
- Previous work experience in rural Mental Health.
- Experience working with Aboriginal populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-violent crisis intervention certification.
- Suicide assessment training.
- Experience with DSM-IV is an asset.
What We Offer:
A competitive rate of pay and a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
