Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Projects Manager to join our team at the City of Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex, concurrent, and multi-disciplinary capital construction landscape projects for major parklands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and approved contract documents.
  • Monitor and control project costs, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide input into and administer assigned budgets, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Assist senior management team in developing strategic policies and programs to meet the long-term needs of the Capital Project Design and Delivery Section.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, such as landscape architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Considerable experience leading complex, concurrent, and multi-disciplinary capital construction landscape projects for major parklands.
  • Experience with construction management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to manage consultants and contractors, as well as diverse partner interests.
  • Highly developed analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with staff, political representatives, consultants, contractors, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
