We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Projects Management Professional to join our team at the City of Toronto.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a seasoned project manager with expertise in leading complex, concurrent, and multi-disciplinary capital construction landscape projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing large-scale facility construction projects, renovations, and alterations, ensuring effective teamwork, communication, and high standards of work quality.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in construction management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, estimating, cost control, and accounting. They will also have a strong understanding of related policies, Acts, Codes, and legislation applicable to this position, such as the Ontario Building Code, Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA), and the Environmental Assessment Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, ensuring timely completion and within budget constraints.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams of staff, contractors, and consultants, promoting collaboration and open communication.
  • Coordinate all documentation, including correspondence from building inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, approved contract documents, project drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in resolving delay claims and disputes arising during construction activities.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, such as Landscape Architecture, Civil/Coastal/Water Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience in leading complex capital construction projects, with a strong track record of success.
  • Proven skills in construction management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, estimating, cost control, and accounting.
  • Excellent analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with staff, stakeholders, and community groups.
