Project Manager for Capital Construction

Job Summary

The City of Toronto is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex capital construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and risk management.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of staff, consultants, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage project documentation, including correspondence, reports, and contract administration.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Provide input into and administer assigned budgets, ensuring expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved limitations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve project delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and community groups, to ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the City of Toronto's policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as construction management, engineering, or architecture.
  • Considerable experience in project management, construction management, or a related field, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and other relevant software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
  • Experience working in a municipal or government environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Ontario Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Environmental Assessment Act.
