Project Manager for Capital Construction

Job Summary
The City of Toronto is seeking a skilled Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex capital construction projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and risk management.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of staff, consultants, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate and manage project documentation, including correspondence, reports, and contract administration.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Provide input into and administer assigned budgets, ensuring expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved limitations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve project delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and community groups, to ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the City of Toronto's policies, procedures, and standards.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a related field, such as construction management, engineering, or architecture.
- Considerable experience in project management, construction management, or a related field, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and other relevant software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
- Experience working in a municipal or government environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Ontario Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Environmental Assessment Act.
