Medical Secretary, Cancer Care Unit

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Secretary to join our Cancer Care team. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to the Chemo Day Care unit, ensuring seamless communication and coordination with staff, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities:- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families
- Coordinate and triage telephone calls and inquiries
- Enter and update electronic payroll system
- Assume responsibility for identification and advancement of issues and concerns
- Compile and disseminate material/documents related to program activity
- Maintain attendance/time reporting information and arrange relief
- Transcribe physicians' written orders and process them in a timely manner
- Process requisitions and maintain documentation
- Prepare statistics, reports, and discharge instructions
- Manage unit supplies and services
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical Secretary/Medical Office Assistant certificate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum of one year comparable office experience
- Experience with Chemotherapy/Oncology processes and protocol, preferred
- Accurate and efficient typing skills of 45 w.p.m
- Bilingualism in French/English, an asset
