Job Summary

Providence Health Care is seeking a skilled New Patient Referral Clerk to join our Health Information Management team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in receiving, recording, and processing physician referrals and re-referrals, determining outpatient appointment priority, and booking related appointments and special procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process physician referrals and re-referrals, determining outpatient appointment priority
  • Book related appointments and special procedures
  • Request, receive, record, store, and collate supporting patient documentation
  • Search for and/or enter related data into the computerized information system

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Two (2) years' recent, related experience completing referrals or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 w.p.m.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
