About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Val and Patsys Island Food. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading the preparation and presentation of our menu items, ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new menu items and recipes, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Lead and manage a team of cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Supervise the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring they are prepared to the highest standards and presented in a visually appealing way.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies, ensuring that we have the necessary ingredients and equipment to meet our culinary needs.
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions, ensuring that their culinary needs are met.
  • Plan menus and ensure that food meets quality standards, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring that their needs are met.
  • Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks, ensuring that the kitchen is running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
  • 5 years or more of experience in a senior culinary role, preferably in a restaurant or catering environment.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing a team of cooks and kitchen staff.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a high level of quality and presentation.
  • Knowledge of Caribbean and Latin American cuisine, with the ability to create new and innovative menu items.
