About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health conditions and/or substance use experiences to live successfully in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing emotional and social support, life skills assistance, and information on community resources.
  2. Collaborate with clients and the CRESST team to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting self-determination and harm reduction.
  3. Provide education and support on empowerment, self-help, and practical skills, empowering clients to manage their mental health and well-being.
  4. Assist clients with community integration activities, including escorting them to various services and opportunities.
  5. Facilitate connections between community service providers and CRESST clients, ensuring seamless access to resources.
  6. Share knowledge and experience with the CRESST team, informing their understanding of mental health conditions and substance use experiences.
  7. Support clients in achieving their goals for recovery and community integration, promoting positive change and independence.
  8. Participate in program planning, development, and evaluation, contributing to the growth and improvement of our services.
Requirements
  • Lived experience of mental illness.
  • Grade 12 completion of a recognized peer support worker training program.
  • One year of recent related work experience in mental health, addictions, homelessness, and/or social services.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Current valid Class Five BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
