Critical Care Outreach Nurse Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Outreach Nurse to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Job SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with critical care experience to work in a mentorship/teaching capacity, supporting in-patient units and collaborating with the intensive care unit team.
The successful candidate will have a strong passion for critical care nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
As a Critical Care Outreach Nurse, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical advice and support to ward staff, identifying early signs of clinical deterioration, and facilitating the transportation of critically ill patients to the ICU.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in research and quality improvement activities, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of best practices in critical care.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment skills.
- Make nursing diagnoses and determine whether patient conditions can be improved or resolved through appropriate nursing interventions.
- Plan, perform, and evaluate nursing interventions and care.
- Provide support in implementing patient care plans and protocols requiring specific nursing skills.
- Participate in interprofessional decision-making to stabilize patients on the nursing unit, transfer them to the ICU, or modify their care plan.
- Coordinate nursing care for patients, set priorities, assign and delegate tasks to support staff, and make referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years' recent related acute care experience and completion of a nursing program in the designated clinical area (critical care or emergency nursing), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and evidence-based practice within the designated clinical area.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team using verbal, written, and electronic communication means.
- Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/caregivers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, and patient advocacy.
