About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Reclamation Specialist to join our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team in Western Canada. As a key member of our team, you will support our offices and be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities including:

  • Actively participating and driving Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Supporting the management of reclamation project timelines, budgets, and communication with clients and project-related stakeholders
  • Preparing and/or reviewing technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
  • Working within a well-organized, and innovative culture with support systems that empower our professionals to focus on our clients and providing high-quality solutions
  • Supporting business growth and development for the reclamation portfolio
  • Transferring knowledge, sharing experiences, and supporting the training and mentorship of colleagues
  • Being part of a technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, and growth and success at all levels

Requirements

  • Technical diploma or degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' previous consulting experience in a directly related role, including experience managing and executing various reclamation and vegetation management projects with a minimum of 5 years of experience getting regulatory closure for reclamation work on oil and gas sites
  • Registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (SIA, AIA)
  • Previous experience in a consulting environment with a proven background managing reclamation projects, including surface reclamation, revegetation, vegetation management, and detailed site assessments
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans, and cost estimates
  • Familiarity with compiling and reviewing Alberta Combined Assessment Tool and Record of Observation (RoO) form, Record of Site Condition submissions, and Reclamation Certificate applications
  • Understanding of improvement releases and overlapping exemptions
  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator's OneStop tool is an asset
  • Familiarity with the contaminated sites closure process is also an asset
  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to provide effective technical direction and mentorship to other professionals
  • A working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada
  • A valid and clean class 5 driver's license with no restrictions
