As a Senior Reclamation Specialist, you will support our Western Canadian offices as a member of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation, and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful candidate will be office-based and involved in a diverse array of projects with responsibilities that include:

  • Actively promoting Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Assisting in the management of reclamation project timelines, budgets, and communications with clients and stakeholders
  • Preparing and/or reviewing technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
  • Working within a well-structured and innovative culture that empowers our professionals to prioritize client needs and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Supporting business growth and development for the reclamation portfolio
  • Sharing knowledge, experiences, and aiding in the training and mentorship of colleagues
  • Participating in a technical practice community that fosters team and individual innovation, growth, and success at all levels

What We Seek:

  • A technical diploma or degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant consulting experience, including managing and executing various reclamation and vegetation management projects, with at least five years of experience in obtaining regulatory closure for reclamation work on oil and gas sites
  • Registration or membership in good standing with a professional organization (e.g., SIA, AIA)
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment with a proven track record in managing reclamation projects, including surface reclamation, revegetation, vegetation management, and detailed site assessments
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans, and cost estimates
  • Experience with compiling and reviewing Alberta Combined Assessment Tool and Record of Observation (RoO) forms, Record of Site Condition submissions, and Reclamation Certificate applications
  • Understanding of improvement releases and overlapping exemptions
  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator's OneStop tool is an asset
  • Knowledge of the contaminated sites closure process is also beneficial
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to provide effective technical direction and mentorship to other professionals
  • A working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada
  • A valid and clean class 5 driver's license with no restrictions
