As a Senior Reclamation Specialist, you will support our Western Canadian offices as a member of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation, and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful candidate will be office-based and involved in a diverse array of projects with responsibilities including:

  • Actively promoting and driving Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Assisting in the management of reclamation project timelines, budgets, and communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Preparing and/or reviewing technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
  • Working within a well-structured and innovative culture that empowers our professionals to focus on client needs and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Supporting business growth and development for the reclamation portfolio
  • Sharing knowledge, experiences, and providing training and mentorship to colleagues
  • Being part of a technical practice community that fosters team and personal innovation, growth, and success at all levels

What We Seek:

  • A technical diploma or degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of prior consulting experience in a directly related capacity, including managing and executing various reclamation and vegetation management projects, with at least 5 years of experience achieving regulatory closure for reclamation work on oil and gas sites
  • Registration in or membership in good standing with a professional organization (e.g., SIA, AIA)
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment with a proven track record managing reclamation projects, including surface reclamation, revegetation, vegetation management, and detailed site assessments
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans, and cost estimates
  • Experience compiling and reviewing Alberta Combined Assessment Tool and Record of Observation (RoO) forms, Record of Site Condition submissions, and Reclamation Certificate applications
  • Understanding of improvement releases and overlapping exemptions
  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator's OneStop tool is advantageous
  • Familiarity with the contaminated sites closure process is also beneficial
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to provide effective technical direction and mentorship to other professionals
  • A working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada
  • A valid and clean class 5 driver's license with no restrictions
