As a Senior Reclamation Specialist, you will support our Western Canadian offices as part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team. The successful applicant will be office-based and involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
  1. Actively participate and drive Matrix’s strong safety culture
  2. Support the management of reclamation project timelines, budgets, and communication with clients and project related stakeholders
  3. Prepare and/or review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports
  4. Work within a well-organized, and innovative culture with support systems that empower our professionals to focus on our clients and providing high quality solutions
  5. Support business growth and development for the reclamation portfolio
  6. Transfer knowledge, share experiences, and support the training and mentorship of colleagues
  7. Be part of a technical practice community that supports team and personal innovation, and growth and success at all levels

What Are We Looking For:
  1. Technical diploma or degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field
  2. A minimum of ten (10) years’ previous consulting experience in a directly related role including experience managing and executing various reclamation and vegetation management projects with a minimum of 5 years of experience getting regulatory closure for reclamation work on oil and gas sites
  3. Registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (e.g. SIA, AIA)
  4. Previous experience in a consulting environment with a proven background managing reclamation projects including surface reclamation, revegetation, vegetation management, and detailed site assessments
  5. Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans and cost estimates
  6. Familiarity with compiling and reviewing Alberta Combined Assessment Tool and Record of Observation (RoO) form, Record of Site Condition submissions, and Reclamation Certificate applications
  7. Understanding of improvement releases and overlapping exemptions
  8. Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool is an asset
  9. Familiarity with the contaminated sites closure process is also an asset
  10. Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  11. Ability to provide effective technical direction and mentorship to other professionals
  12. A working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada
  13. A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
