Mining Engineering Instructor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Mining Engineering Instructor to join our team at the College of the North Atlantic. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in both classroom and shop settings, facilitating learning, and evaluating student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
- Establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods, and meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress and identify and resolve problem areas in teaching and learning.
- Communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
- Participate in professional development activities to remain current in your field and post-secondary education profession.
- Contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard.
- Deliver theory and practical components of all courses outlined.
- Perform other related duties consistent with maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the mining industry.
- Have an understanding of methods used to teach course concepts and classroom management.
- Have effective communication, analytical, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
- A minimum of five years recent relevant work experience in the mining sector as a Mining Engineer.
- A Bachelor of Education Degree (Post-Secondary or Secondary), instructor training, experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and basic computer literacy skills including work with MS Office and pdf documents.
- Training in Brightspace and teaching experience in an online learning environment.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
