Job Summary:

The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mining Engineering Technology Instructor to join our faculty team. As a key member of our academic staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and facilitating learning in our Mining Engineering Technology program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the learning objectives of our Mining Engineering Technology program.
  • Teach and assess student learning in both classroom and shop settings, using a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to engage students and promote academic success.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators to ensure seamless program delivery and student support.
  • Participate in curriculum development and program evaluation to ensure our Mining Engineering Technology program remains relevant and effective.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field of Mining Engineering Technology and post-secondary education.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with significant industry experience.
  • Minimum of five years of recent relevant work experience in the mining industry, with a strong understanding of mining engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to teach and assess student learning in a post-secondary setting, with a strong commitment to student success and academic excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in an online learning environment and using learning management systems such as Brightspace.
  • Training in instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Experience working in a college or university setting, with a strong understanding of post-secondary education policies and procedures.
