At OMERS, we're committed to empowering our employees to make a meaningful impact. As a Senior Analyst, Portfolio Strategy, you'll play a critical role in shaping our investment and portfolio strategy, working closely with our Total Portfolio Management Group and broader investment teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop a 3-year CIO Strategy in alignment with OMERS' corporate strategy and business units, focusing on investment strategy, portfolio design, and operating model refinement.
  • Collaborate with investment business units to articulate their business unit strategy, strategic priorities, and ad-hoc strategy work.
  • Perform analysis on periodic reviews of the investment operating/business model.
  • Conduct research on global peers, investment strategies, benchmark setting, asset allocation, and other topics to produce strategic and balance sheet insights.
  • Prepare presentations for OMERS' portfolio on asset mix, investment strategies, and investment performance to inform total portfolio decisions.
  • Synthesize analysis and views into clear, concise messages for stakeholders across OMERS.
  • Engage with cross-OMERS personnel to increase TPM's knowledge of investment strategies and portfolios.
  • Collaborate with investment teams to deliver the best outcomes for our pension plan.
  • Mentor less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and insight to support the growth of the Portfolio Strategy team.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in investment management, management consulting, and/or financial services/asset management, with pension fund experience being an asset.
  • Familiarity with asset allocation, a broad range of investment securities/products, and operating models of investment management firms.
  • Ability to see the big picture and apply a structured approach to problem-solving, answer abstract questions, and think strategically.
  • Ability to synthesize complex topics into presentations for senior management or leadership.
  • Detail-oriented and innately curious, with an interest in staying ahead of trends and continually learning about new topics.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with financial database software such as FactSet, Bloomberg (an asset).
  • Willingness to act with a high degree of initiative and deliver results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships across OMERS.
  • Ability to prioritize among several tasks while delivering high-quality products within deadlines.
  • Ability to contribute to and foster a collegial and creative team culture.
  • Humility and self-awareness, with a willingness to value feedback, invite, and integrate different perspectives.
