The Senior Associate Director, Ceremonies and Events, is a key member of the Ceremonies and Events Office at Simon Fraser University. This role is responsible for developing, promoting, and managing high-profile events and ceremonies that enhance the university's brand and fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with senior administrators, campus partners, and external stakeholders to provide support in event visioning, planning, implementation, best practices, and marketing strategies.
- Ensure that event protocol standards of the university are upheld.
- Manage and coordinate external ad hoc event committees.
- Liaise with the President, senior administrators, donors, businesses, and the provincial government to promote the strategic vision of the university.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Arts or Business Administration and seven years of experience in event leadership, marketing, and communications, including experience managing large, high-profile events in a large, complex institution.
- Excellent knowledge of university protocols and policies.
- Excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to set, communicate, and maintain timelines and priorities while working on a number of different initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment exercising mature judgment and a high level of diplomacy and discretion.
