About the Role

The Ceremonies and Events Office at Simon Fraser University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Event Coordinator to join their team. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing a variety of annual events, including convocation ceremonies, presidential events, and alumni receptions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating logistics and event coordination for annual convocation ceremonies
  • Developing and implementing event budgets, timelines, and procedures
  • Overseeing staff and event volunteers
  • Liaising and negotiating contracts with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
  • Managing the creation of event promotional and marketing materials
  • Researching, compiling, and drafting briefing notes and scripts for event speakers and stakeholders

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A bachelor's degree in Arts or Business, or a diploma/certificate in Marketing, Communications, Development, or Event Management
  • Four years of relevant experience in event management and communications, including experience managing high-profile events or multiple smaller events simultaneously
  • Excellent budget management and event management skills
  • Excellent communications and marketing skills, including demonstrated writing and editing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
