About the Role

The General Manager - Hotel Operations will be responsible for the overall operations of the hotel, under the direction of the Regional Director. This includes developing the budget for each department, approving expenses, and establishing service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume overall responsibility for the operations of the hotel.
  • Establish financial and service standards for the hotel.
  • Direct the focus of the Sales Department.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization's vision and strategy.
  • Monitor departmental performance against goals and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Provide vision and leadership to staff members.
  • Provide written and verbal reports on organizational activities.
  • Allocate resources to implement organizational and departmental policies.
  • Schedule staff and work activities.
  • Supervise and provide advice, support, guidance, and direction to staff.
  • Liaise with outside vendors and negotiate service prices/contracts.
  • Prepare budgets and monitor expenses.
  • Address customer complaints and comments.
  • Inspect property and services to ensure compliance with licensing laws and regulations.
  • Inspect hotel for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Coordinate front-office activities and resolve problems.
  • Develop advertising strategies and campaigns.
  • Participate in community affairs and maintain a positive public image for the hotel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Hotel General Manager experience, or 3-4 years of Sales or Rooms Division Manager experience.
  • Diploma or Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management would be an asset.
  • Hands-on Management style.
  • Exceptional Leadership skills.
  • Commitment to exceeding Guest expectations.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve challenging goals.
