Job Description:

At MUFG Investor Services, we're looking for a highly skilled ESG Sustainability Strategist to join our team.

About the Role:

This is a critical role that will drive our company's commitment to sustainability and transparency. As an ESG Sustainability Strategist, you'll be responsible for providing a comprehensive blend of ESG reporting and technical accounting expertise.

You'll ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of our ESG data, applying your technical accounting knowledge to interpret and apply accounting standards such as IFRS, US GAAP, and FRS 102.

This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We're seeking a professional with experience in ESG reporting and technical accounting, preferably from a Big 4 or Financial Services background.

Responsibilities:
  1. Collection, preparation, and analysis of ESG data, focusing on the requirements of the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the expectations of other global regulators (TCFD).
  2. Prepare and publish ESG and climate risk reports and disclosures, adhering to established ESG standards and frameworks.
  3. Ensure compliance with ESG disclosure requirements in Financial Statements.
  4. Monitor ESG industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging policies/standards, providing insights and recommendations to the business.
  5. Prepare and report on ESG matters to the Sustainability Committee, Senior Management, and Boards.
  6. Develop and deliver training materials to increase internal capacity around ESG governance and controls.
  7. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to implement and adhere to the ESG strategy and roadmap of MUFG IS.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of ESG policies and procedures.
  9. Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely ESG reporting.
  10. Assist the Director of Technical Accounting and Entity Control with various technical accounting issues under US GAAP, IFRS, and FRS 102.
Requirements:
  • A professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Risk (ACA, ACCA, CPA), or similar.
  • A certification in ESG or Sustainability (CFA, SASB, GRI) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Experience in an ESG reporting and technical accounting role, preferably Big 4, Financial Services or Asset Management sector.
  • Familiarity with ESG standards (TCFD, GRI, EU CSRD, PRI, SASB) and their application to our strategy and practices.
  • Understanding of IFRS, US GAAP, FRS 102, and Financial Statements preparation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

As a member of our team, you'll enjoy a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
