Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Cardiac Cath Lab at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings, and communicate with the healthcare team to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote understanding of cardiac catheterization procedures and post-procedure care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to cardiac catheterization laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Two years recent related Cath Lab and/or acute care experience required.
  • CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level I.
  • PALS Certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate effectively to children and their families and others.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary care team and function as a nursing resource.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable computer software.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
