Position Overview


Under the guidance of the Patient Care Manager, the Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiac Short Stay Unit is tasked with the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care tailored to patients' needs.

This role emphasizes assisting patients in fulfilling their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological requirements within a structured nursing framework.

The Staff Nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary clinical team, adhering to BCCNM Standards of Practice and the mission of Providence Health Care.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid registered nurse license from the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Completion of a postgraduate critical care course or a minimum of one year of recent critical care experience
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Competence in performing CPR procedures
  • Capacity to function effectively within a team environment
  • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills
  • Proficient in conflict resolution
  • Physical ability to meet job demands
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Familiarity with operating relevant medical equipment
  • Experience in patient education and facilitating group sessions
  • Skills in providing clinical direction
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and formulate personalized care plans
  • Execute nursing interventions grounded in clinical judgment and evidence-based practices
  • Monitor patient progress and modify care plans as necessary
  • Document observations and communicate any changes in patient conditions
  • Deliver direct nursing care during critical situations
  • Maintain accurate patient records in designated systems
  • Provide educational resources to patients and families, facilitating learning opportunities
  • Mentor and support other healthcare personnel, including Care Attendants and Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Engage in nursing orientation and educational initiatives
  • Contribute to the formulation of care policies and practices
  • Participate in nursing research endeavors
  • Assist in discharge planning and liaise with community resources
  • Advocate for the rights and dignity of patients
  • Attend in-service presentations and educational programs as required
