The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead the development of education policy and legislation. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic policy advice and support to the Minister and other senior leaders.
The Director will be responsible for leading a team to develop and implement education policies, projects, and legislative and regulatory agendas. This includes providing direction for the development, implementation, and review of departmental policies, as well as leading the team to provide high-level strategic policy advice and support on a wide range of education system and departmental issues.
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in a related field and substantial senior leadership experience in policy. They will be committed to open communication, collaboration, and consultation with staff, partners, and stakeholders, and will be recognized for their personal and professional credibility, creative problem-solving ability, and in-depth experience leading cross-organizational programs and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience- Several years of successful leadership and relevant work experience at a managerial or leadership level.
- Proven ability to advise and brief senior leadership, including Associate Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, and/or Minister.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to handle and organize large workloads, and a proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
