About This Opportunity

The Squamish Nation is seeking an experienced and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join their Education, Employment and Training Department. As a key member of the team, this position reports directly to the Principal and plays a vital role in delivering high-quality educational services to community members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement research-based elementary education strategies and programs that meet the unique needs of the Squamish Nation community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community stakeholders to inform and plan curriculum, ensuring alignment with the nation's philosophy, goals, and mission statement.
  • Provide cross-curricular guided inquiry experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion, demonstrating emotional intelligence and integrity in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience in elementary education, preferably with expertise in implementing research-based strategies and programs.
  • Professional communication style, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to influence others.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity, with the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to use versions of the Squamish Language Dictionary and deliver complex information to stakeholders in a meaningful way.
  • Wilderness First Aid certification (40-hour advanced course) or willingness to complete.
