About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at the Squamish Nation. This position will report directly to the Principal and play a vital role in delivering educational services to the Squamish community.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring educational programs that align with the philosophy, goals, and mission statement of Xwemel'ch'stn Etsímxwawtxw. They will operate with the highest level of confidentiality and possess expertise in implementing elementary education that incorporates current, research-based strategies and programs across various disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver cross-curricular guided inquiry experiences for students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community members to inform, plan, and implement curriculum.
  • Provide educational services to students in the Squamish community.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required.

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience in elementary education.
  • Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
  • Able to use versions of the Squamish Language Dictionary.
  • Maintains composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders in a meaningful way.
  • Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities.
  • Able to deliver negative information tactfully and diplomatically when needed.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Salary

$64,000 - $90,000 per year, following the North Vancouver School District Salary grid.
