About the Opportunity

This position is an integral part of the Ayas Menen Child and Family Services Department, reporting directly to the Team Leader, Food Program. It involves working within the Ayas Menen Food Program, focusing on the Food Pantry, Growcer Hydroponic System, and Food Garden. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and controlling the Growcer Hydroponic System, utilizing the automated system provided. They will perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning grow trays, mixing nutrient solutions, and harvesting. Training will be provided on knowledge of the Growcer, basic troubleshooting procedures, and weekly technical calls. Additional duties include designing and implementing planting schedules, propagating, transplanting, maintaining, and harvesting plants, as well as post-harvest procedures. This individual will also support other areas of the Food Program, including the S7ilhen Food Pantry and Food Garden, in delivering program services and expected outcomes.

  • Understanding of plant nutrient and modern fertigation techniques, knowledge of soilless culture techniques, and understanding of plant nutrition.
  • Experience in cleaning and maintaining equipment, working with your hands, and working outdoors.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
  • Maintains composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders.
  • Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities.
  • Able to deliver information with tact and diplomacy.

Salary: $22.51 - $24.70 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit program.
