Economic Development Planner for Indigenous Rights and Title

As an integral part of Squamish Nation's Rights and Title Department, you will report directly to the Director Rights and Title. The Xay Temixw Xay Shkwen Project Director oversees the development, planning, community engagement, and execution of updating the Xay Temixw Land Use Plan and creating the Nation's first Xay Shkwen Marine Use Plan.
This role requires understanding of land use and marine use planning, indigenous rights and title, and strong project management skills to oversee internal staff and consultants carrying out a variety of different scopes of work to complete these foundational plans.
The Plans are intended to promote community connection to and understanding of our lands and waters, prioritize land and water policy and management directions, strategically assert Squamish Nation's rights and title over the Territory and its resources, promote and reinvigorate the continuity of Squamish culture, facilitating the protection of cultural resources, places, sacred spaces, and key species and habitats in the marine environment, while also informing opportunities for sustainable economic development.
What You Bring- A combination of education and experience.
- A Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Professional communication style with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with multiple teams from various departments and organizations.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to think strategically.
- Proficiency in using project management and planning software.
- High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
- Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders in a meaningful way.
- Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities.
$110,146 - $124,490 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program.
