Risk Management Specialist: Model Governance Expert

The Risk Management Department oversees enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks of corporate and investment banking business activities.
About this role
This position is part of the Model Risk Governance Team within the Risk Management Division (RISQ). RISQ's mission is to develop SG Group business and returns through an efficient risk management process. The candidate will work with the Model Risk Management team in charge of model risk governance, located in Montreal.
Job Description
The Model Risk Governance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring consistent implementation of the Model Risk Governance framework for all models at Societe Generale in the Americas, across all model families. Key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to enhancing the AMER model risk appetite and management framework definition.
- Engage model owners/users/developers for the collation and ongoing maintenance of the SG AMER Model Inventory, participating actively in the annual certification campaign.
- Perform quality controls on independent reviews performed by Validation teams.
- Implement model risk governance processes, including model risk assessment and reporting to relevant governance forums.
- Participate in preparing presentations to regulators and internal/external audit on model risk management topics.
- Collaborate with technology partners to design and roll out the firm's strategic model inventory and workflow solution.
Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum three years of experience in Model Risk Management related areas.
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Model Risk regulatory requirements (SR11-07) and industry standard practice.
- Experience in drafting policy and procedure documentation, and MIS intended for a senior audience.
- Good understanding of risk metrics and model risk controls.
