About the Job

Societe Generale de Surveillance SA is seeking an experienced Risk Governance Specialist to join our Model Risk Management team in Montreal. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive model risk governance across a dynamic, high-stakes landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance Model Risk Framework: Refine the Americas model risk appetite and management framework to ensure its integrity and effectiveness.
  • Manage Model Inventory: Engage stakeholders to maintain the Societe Generale Americas Model Inventory and support annual certification.
  • Oversee Approval Processes: Manage approvals for initial use, model changes, and ongoing validations to ensure compliance with regulations and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with Validation Teams: Set validation priorities for models, aligning with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct Quality Control: Perform checks on independent model reviews to ensure their accuracy and reliability.
  • Governance and Reporting: Implement model risk processes, assess risk, and report to governance forums to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support Regulatory and Audit Preparation: Prepare materials for regulators and internal/external audits to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate on Tech Solutions: Partner with technology teams to build model inventory and workflow solutions to enhance model risk management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ Years of Risk Management Experience: Proven track record in risk management, model risk, with deep knowledge of risk metrics, model controls, and industry standards.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or Similar Field: Strong educational background in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Policy Documentation Expertise: Strong experience drafting policy and procedure documentation, MIS reports, and materials for senior management, oversight forums, and regulators.
  • Change Management and Influence: Demonstrated success as a trusted partner in implementing changes and fostering adoption among end-users.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Highly collaborative and able to engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and adept at prioritization.
