Job Title: Grocery Clerk Supervisor

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grocery Clerk Supervisor to join our team at 2703264 Ontario Inc. As a key member of our retail business, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our grocery department, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that our store runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and Co-ordinate Activities of Workers: Lead and manage a team of grocery clerks and shelf stockers, providing guidance and support to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Assign Sales Workers to Duties: Allocate tasks and responsibilities to sales workers, ensuring that our customers receive prompt and courteous service.
  • Hire and Train or Arrange for Training of Staff: Recruit and train new staff members, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Authorize Payments by Cheque: Process payments and manage our store's finances, ensuring that all transactions are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Order Merchandise: Source and purchase merchandise for our store, ensuring that our inventory is always stocked and up-to-date.
  • Establish Work Schedules: Create and manage work schedules for our team members, ensuring that our store is always staffed and ready to serve our customers.
  • Prepare Reports on Sales Volumes, Merchandising and Personnel Matters: Analyze sales data and prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising, and personnel matters, providing insights and recommendations to improve our store's performance.
  • Resolve Issues that May Arise: Address customer complaints, supply shortages, and other issues that may arise, ensuring that our customers receive prompt and courteous service.
Requirements:
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a retail business environment.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Asset Languages: Hindi, Gujarati, Panjabi (Punjabi).
  • Work Setting: Retail business environment.
  • Security and Safety: Basic security clearance and criminal record check required.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, tight deadlines, handling heavy loads, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, organized, reliability, team player.
