Job Title: Grocery Store Supervisor

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grocery Store Supervisor to join our team at 2703264 Ontario Inc. As a key member of our retail business, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our grocery store, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that our store runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and Co-ordinate Activities of Workers: Lead and manage a team of sales workers, grocery clerks, and shelf stockers to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Assign Sales Workers to Duties: Assign tasks and responsibilities to sales workers to ensure that the store is running smoothly and that customers are receiving excellent service.
  • Hire and Train or Arrange for Training of Staff: Recruit, hire, and train new staff members to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Authorize Payments by Cheque: Authorize payments by cheque for purchases made by customers.
  • Order Merchandise: Order merchandise and supplies to ensure that the store is well-stocked and that customers have access to a wide range of products.
  • Authorize Return of Merchandise: Authorize the return of merchandise that is defective or otherwise unsatisfactory.
  • Establish Work Schedules: Create and manage work schedules to ensure that the store is adequately staffed at all times.
  • Sell Merchandise: Sell merchandise to customers and provide excellent customer service.
  • Prepare Reports on Sales Volumes, Merchandising and Personnel Matters: Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising, and personnel matters to help management make informed decisions.
  • Resolve Issues that May Arise: Resolve issues that may arise, including customer complaints, supply shortages, and other problems that may impact the smooth operation of the store.
  • Organize and Maintain Inventory: Organize and maintain inventory to ensure that the store is well-stocked and that customers have access to a wide range of products.
Requirements:
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a retail business or similar environment.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Asset Languages: Hindi, Gujarati, Panjabi (Punjabi).
  • Work Setting: Retail business.
  • Security and Safety: Basic security clearance and criminal record check.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, tight deadlines, handling heavy loads, attention to detail, combination of sitting, standing, walking, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, organized, reliability, team player.
