Psychiatrist - Adult Inpatient Specialist

Job Summary
Homewood Health is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Ravensview, a specialized treatment program delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the clinical psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the inpatient care team, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to best practice standards.
- Diagnose and manage complex psychiatric disorders, including comorbid mental health and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, working collaboratively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including medication management, psychotherapeutic interventions, and return-to-work planning.
- Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care, ensuring ongoing standards of patient care are met.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and comprehensive discharge summaries.
- Utilize electronic medical platforms, such as Caseworks and BDM, to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Provide clinical guidance to the program and admitting department, ensuring timely and appropriate referrals and admissions.
- Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences, ensuring continuity of care.
- Complete and submit MSP billings in a timely manner, ensuring accurate reimbursement for services provided.
- Liaise with third-party referrers, including VAC, provincial workers' compensation boards, and employers, to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College.
- Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders.
- Interest in working with complex and comorbid disorders, with a commitment to ongoing learning and teaching to enhance patient care.
- Previous experience leading teams in an MRP role, with a proven track record of creating a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Faculty appointment experience, with a strong ability to inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions, and communication.
- Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers, and colleagues, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly developed organizational and time-management skills, with a strong ability to negotiate and influence.
- Continued involvement in medical education and teaching, with a demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.
- Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care.
