Geriatric Psychiatry Opportunity

Island Health is seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide consultation and education services to inpatient and outpatient teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide geriatric psychiatry consultation to inpatient and outpatient services, including support for the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Team at Victoria General Hospital.
  • Support outpatient services at the Senior's Outpatient Clinic (SOPC) at Royal Jubilee Hospital, the Esquimalt Westshore Health Unit (EWHU), and consultation at several Long Term Care Facilities.
  • Participate in the Geriatric Psychiatry call rotation and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with Island Health geriatric medicine, adult psychiatry, and hospitalist services to provide comprehensive care.
Requirements:
  • Participation in the Island Health geriatric psychiatry program and commitment to ongoing education and training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to provide consultation and education services to inpatient and outpatient teams, with a focus on geriatric psychiatry.
