Psychiatrist - Adult Inpatient Ravensview

Position Summary
Homewood Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Ravensview, a specialized treatment program delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. As a Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for the clinical psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.
- Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met.
- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
- Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and comprehensive discharge summary.
- Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided).
- Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions.
- Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained.
- Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences.
- Complete and submit MSP billings in a timely manner.
- Liaison with third-party referrers as needed for continuity of care.
Requirements:
- A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
- Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred.
- Interest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care.
- Previous experience leading teams in an MRP role.
- Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization.
- Faculty appointment – experience in working with medical students and residents.
- Inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions, and/or communication.
- Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers, and colleagues.
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly developed organizational and time-management skills.
- Continued involvement in medical education and teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.
- Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care are welcomed assets.
