About the Opportunity

The Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Mentor for the Kistesimaw "Eldest Brother" program. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young Indigenous boys under the age of 12.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement program delivery tools to support the mentorship program;
  • Evaluate and monitor the program's effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement;
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the program, including participant engagement and support;
  • Plan and deliver youth activities that promote cultural awareness and community involvement;
  • Provide mentorship and support to participants and their families;
  • Recruit and engage participants in the program;
  • Ensure that traditional knowledge is incorporated into the design and delivery of the program;
  • Transport participants safely to and from program activities.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary education or combination of education and experience;
  • One to two years' experience working with Indigenous boys, ages 12 and under;
  • A valid Manitoba Driver's License and a clear drivers abstract;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the male role influence when working with boys;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Cultural knowledge competence and ability to incorporate traditional knowledge into program design and delivery.
