Indigenous Youth Care Coordinator

Job Summary:
Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing supervision and support to youth in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for youth, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor, guiding youth in the development of independent living skills and promoting their autonomy.
- Offer resource information, complete referrals, and advocate on behalf of youth as needed, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are respected.
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment, ensuring the physical space is safe and welcoming for all youth participants.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including logbook entries, MAR forms, incident reports, and other required documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A combination of relevant education and experience, with a preference for post-secondary education in the Child and Youth Care field.
- Experience working in Indigenous community settings, with knowledge of cultural-based services and a demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Effective assessment, relationship-building, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Community work experience with youth, focusing on areas such as poverty, housing, legal, social assistance, education, family violence, substance use, crisis intervention, mental health, and colonization.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently, with a proven track record of adaptability in a changing work environment.
- Understanding and capacity to work within a harm reduction and trauma-informed framework.
- Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft 365 applications.
- Current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check required.
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
