Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Health Director to lead our healthcare sector in Western Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding the overall direction of the health sector and developing new business relationships and opportunities with health authorities, construction managers, design-build partners, and related institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health Sector Goals
    • Work closely with global sector and local office leadership to ensure that the health sector is meeting business objectives from a local, regional, and national perspective.
    • Assist in the development of annual strategic health market sector planning, including budgets, goals, and initiatives.
    • Monitor marketing progress, performance indicators, marketing report accuracy, budgets, and costs, and manage progress within assigned marketing resource allocations.
    • Work closely with global market sector, principals, design, and operational leaders to formulate and implement marketing initiatives.
  • Grow Local Health Sector Team
    • In concert with operational leadership, grow a well-balanced, multi-disciplinary team, assess capabilities of staffing resources, grow, develop, recruit, and maintain expertise, balance all aspects of an expertise and design-driven top-tier health practice.
  • Build Client Relationships
    • Develop strong client relationships and serve as a key client relationship manager on projects.
  • Demonstrate Local Leadership
    • Participate as a health thought leader in professional organizations, activities, and services throughout Western Canada that further the firm's brand, vision, and relationships.
    • Value mentorship and establishing meaningful relationships with your colleagues.
  • Represent and Advance the Firm
    • Increase awareness and understanding within the community of the firm's health practice on a local, regional, and national basis.
    • Present at and attend local, regional, and national conferences.
    • Be an ambassador for our Health practice at networking events.
  • Business Development and Marketing
    • Execute requisite pre-marketing and positioning strategies necessary for success.
    • Organize and support efforts of sector, regional, and local leaders to ensure effective organization of pursuits.
    • Coordinate regularly with the global health and operational leadership on all business development, marketing, and practice growth efforts.
    • Identify, qualify, and develop business leads. Develop effective capture plans to convert leads to wins.
    • Lead strategic project pursuit teams, manage pursuit processes, and follow quality procedures for document production.
    • Coordinate, collaborate, and cooperate with local operational leadership and leverage their roles and assistance to build teamwork and maximize effectiveness and results of all BD and marketing efforts.
  • Proposal Writing
    • Lead and oversee the analysis of requests for proposals (RFP) and lead the development of written proposal responses.
    • Develop, craft, and write proposals and oversee the preparation and timely completion of qualifications packages and proposals with all contributing parties both inside and outside the firm.
  • Interviews and Presentations
    • Lead the development of interview presentation strategies, messaging, and all team preparations for winning presentations and interviews.
  • Global Teamwork
    • Work and collaborate with HDR leaders, marketing staff, and design professionals across the firm and particularly within the region to develop relationships and win work.
  • Project Delivery Responsibilities
    • Serve as a Principal in Charge (PIC) in a leadership role for key healthcare clients, responsible for establishing strong client relationships, overall project performance, and maintaining client satisfaction.
    • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, and design meetings.
    • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and client stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Architect with the AIBC (or eligible for registration via reciprocity agreements between associations).
  • 15 years of professional experience in A/E/C industry, with at least two years of management experience.
  • Advanced credentials desired (e.g. ACHA, LEED, EDAC, WELL AP, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience within the local and regional health market.
  • Forward-thinking with big-picture mentality.
  • Experience successfully developing and executing targeted market and client strategies.
  • Capable of leading a health team and making client presentations.
  • Business development experience in health design industry.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to travel (domestic and international).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Maintain professional registration.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
  • Experienced in overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Area Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Director, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers, and Area Managers.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.

The pay range for Vancouver, BC is: $160,000 - $230,000
