Regional Medical Director, Western Canada

Job Summary:
Practice Care Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Medical Director to lead our medical team in Western Canada. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the medical quality of care within your region, working closely with our National Medical Director to implement best medical practices and support our vision to be a leading provider of high-quality veterinary care in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement medical strategies to drive excellence in client and patient care across our practices in Western Canada.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Regional Operations Managers, veterinary teams, and Medical Directors to drive continuity, teamwork, and best practices.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe medical activities, coach medical teams, and provide feedback to improve the quality of care delivered.
- Support new graduate veterinarians through individual mentorship plans and provide guidance on best practices.
- Evaluate practice medical equipment and implement strategies to maximize usage.
- Manage veterinary board and client complaints, collaborating with the National Medical Director, Regional Operations Manager, and Practice Manager to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with Practice Managers, Medical Directors, and Associates to improve time management and efficiency, including the use of technicians/technologists and technology.
- Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to attract and assess DVM candidates for our practices and represent Practice Care Centre at industry/campus events.
- Enhance DVM engagement through regional meetings, evaluating DVM performance, supporting development plans, and defining medical goals.
- Organize and conduct regular doctor and team meetings to foster and strengthen positive clinic culture.
- Support Medical Directors and associate veterinarians in managing their job satisfaction and healthy well-being.
- Act as a thought partner with the National Medical Director, contributing to the development and implementation of new practice protocols and guidelines.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Medical Director/Leadership experience preferred.
- Multi-Unit experience preferred.
- License to practice veterinary medicine in all provinces in assigned region or eligibility for such licensure.
- Minimum of 5 years practical clinical experience in small animal medicine.
- Strong relationship and communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with Medical Directors and associate veterinarians at each practice.
- Ability to support the implementation and promotion of medical programs in a collaborative environment.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility in schedule and hours of availability.
- Environment where pets are present.
- 50% travel throughout the regions you support with overnight/out of area required.
- The right candidate must be based within driving distance of Practice Care Centre clinics in the provinces they will support.
