Job Summary:
The Regional Medical Director, Western Canada is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the medical quality of care within the Western Canada region. This role will work closely with the National Medical Director to implement best medical practices and support the company's aspiration to be a leading provider of high-quality veterinary care in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement medical strategies to improve the quality of care delivered by veterinary teams in the Western Canada region.
- Collaborate with Regional Operations Managers to drive clinics to greater continuity, teamwork, and best practices.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe medical activities and coach veterinary teams to improve their skills and knowledge.
- Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to attract and assess DVM candidates for the region.
- Develop and implement mentorship plans to support new grad veterinarians.
- Evaluate practice medical equipment and take necessary steps to maximize usage.
- Manage veterinary board and client complaints that are medically based.
- Collaborate with Practice Managers, Medical Directors, and Associates to improve methods of time management and efficiency.
- Work closely with Regional Operations Managers to enhance DVM engagement and support development plans.
- Organize and conduct regular doctor and team meetings to foster and strengthen positive clinic culture.
- Connect with and support Medical Directors and associate veterinarians in managing their job satisfaction and healthy well-being.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Medical Director/Leadership experience preferred.
- Multi-Unit experience preferred.
- License to practice veterinary medicine in all provinces in the assigned region or eligibility for such licensure.
- Minimum of 5 years practical clinical experience in small animal medicine.
- Strong relationship and communication skills with the ability to develop a strong working relationship with Medical Directors and associate veterinarians at each practice.
- Ability to support the implementation and promotion of medical programs in a collaborative environment.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility in schedule and hours of availability.
- Environment where pets are present.
- 50% travel throughout the regions supported with overnight/out of area required.
- The right candidate must be based within driving distance of Practice Care Centre clinics in the provinces they will support.
